Mary L. Willis
(nee Pope)
Age 68. Passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Symphony of Joliet with her family by her side, following a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born May 26, 1945 in Joliet, she was a graduate of St. Bernard Grade School, St. Francis High School, and Joliet Junior College. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Silver Cross Hospital in Labor and Delivery and Postpartum. She was also a lifelong member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Mary adored her children and absolutely treasured her grandchildren. She loved being a nurse at Silver Cross Hospital, giving each and every patient, both mother and newborn, her very special care.
Devoted mother of Claudia (Mark) Gregurich of Elwood, Stephanie (Michael) Hart of Elwood; and Darryl Pope of Morris; loving grandmother of Brennon Ellis, Ashley Pope, Kristina, Katie, Joey and Jake Gregurich; beloved sister of Dorothy Henniger, Lola (Sam) Dileto, Rose (Howard) Wysong, Joyce (Tony) Tafoya and Roberta (John) Honiotes; dear sister-in-law of Edward Partilla; fond aunt of several nieces and nephews; and wife of Dale Willis.
Preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Alberta (nee Bush) Pope; and her sister, Wanda Partilla.
Mary's children would like to thank the entire staff at Symphony of Joliet and Joliet Area Community Hospice, especially Greta, Colleen, Bonnie, Bernice and Diane. Words can't express how thankful we are for your compassion and devotion for our Mom during her time of need.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1313 Ridgewood Avenue, Joliet on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. A visitation will be held at church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
