Age 73. Peacefully Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home following a courageous battle with breast cancer with her family by her side. Born in Chicago and a longtime Joliet and Romeoville resident. Retired from Unitel in Naperville after many years of service. "Jerrie's" favorite pastime was playing Bunco with her lifelong friends in Romeoville every month for the past 30 years. Jerrie's whole life revolved around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. Her happiest moments were always surrounded with family and friends sitting on everyone's porches.
Preceded by her parents, Jack and Louise (nee Wickert) Malpass; twin brothers, Ronald and Roland Malpass; and her former husband, James F. Reid.
Survived by two sons, James F. (Bonnie) Reid, Jr. of Lockport and Jeffery (Evelyn) Reid of Joliet; two daughters, Jeanene (Rick Sparrow) Reid of Joliet and Jodi (Michael) Krzeminski, also of Joliet; eight grandchildren, Jillene (Garson), Matthew, Amber (Ryan), Ashley Jayme, Amanda, Ryann and Emma; one great-granddaughter, Ava; her twin sister, Judith (the late Andrew) Borowiak of Oak Lawn; one brother, Jack (Marsha) Malpass of Queen Creek, AZ; Sister in law Rae (Tom) Adams of South Carolina. numerous nieces, nephews, very special cousins and the Double "J" family also survive.
We would like to recognize those who gave our mother special care during those difficult days, her granddaughter, Jillene, her sister-in-law, Rae Adams, the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home staff, Dr. Maria Quejada and her nurse, Kim Rohan.
Funeral Services for Jeraldine L. Reid will be Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Rev. Yvette Eber officiating. As it was Jerrie's request, Cremation Rites will be accorded following her funeral services. Memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or Edward Hospital Cancer Care Center, 120 Spalding Drive, #111 Naperville, IL 60540 would be appreciated.
