Gordon E. Carrier, Sr. Age 94, of Shorewood, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 at Fairview Care Center. Born April 24, 1919 in Joliet, he was a 1937 graduate of Joliet Township High School and a resident of Joliet until moving to Shorewood in 1960. He served with the United State Navy in World War II, completing his basic training at Great Lakes Naval Station. His entire company was then transferred to Twentynine Palms Military Base in California, where they were attached to a Marine unit, and he served as a Seabee establishing supply lines in the Philippines. Gordon worked for Carrier's Appliance Service for many years serving as a factory representative for several manufacturers. He was a member and Past Vice commander of Cantigny Post #367 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid sportsman who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved to reminisce and listen to books on tape while sitting in his front window. We will miss his prayers prior to family gatherings and especially holiday dinners. Surviving are his two sons, Gordon E. (Gina) Carrier, Jr. of Shorewood, and William F. (Brenda) Carrier of St. Claire, MO; ten grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and special friends and neighbors, Elizabeth Holman and Richard Stanley.
