Obituary of Marian King

Marian E. King (Gildemeister) (nee Stanek) Age 96. Friday, November 8, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Chicago and a long time Oak Park, Des Plaines Methodist Camp Ground and Homewood resident before retiring to Joliet in 2000. A graduate of Cornell University with a major in English. Taught the summer vacation bible school at the Des Plaines Methodist Camp Ground for many years. Formerly employed at the Oak Park Library as an assistant librarian. Former parishioner of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Homewood. Preceded in death by her first husband, Henry J. Gildemeister; her second husband, Edward E. King; and her daughter, Janice Ruban. Survived by her son, Roger C. (Barbara) Gildemeister of Palatine, IL; two grandchildren, Janet (Martin) Borst of New Lenox and Robert G. Ruban of Morris; two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Amy Borst; a son-in-law, George Ruban of Elwood; four stepsons, Edward (Marsha) King, Fredric (Ruth) King, William (Janet) King and David (Marcia) King; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Marian E. King will be Thursday, November 14, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Interment Acacia Park Cemetery in Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the United Methodist Church or charity of your choice would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m.
