Shirley L. Erwin

Age 76, of Shorewood, IL, passed away peacefully, Friday November 15, 2013 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with her family present.
Shirley was employed at the former Louis Joliet Bank in the 1970's. A beloved wife, mother and homemaker, she enjoyed crafts and sunning on the beach in Naples, FL. A former member of the Ladies of the Moose (Chapter 84) of Joliet Lodge #300 and the senior club. For many years, she was producer and director of variety shows at Greystone Mobile Home Park in Naples, FL. Shirley loved to be involved with her sons activities; she was an officer at Belmont Little League and Ingalls Park Pony League. She especially loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her father Mike (step-mother, Alice) Ritof; mother, Rita Conover; an infant brother, Robert and step-sister, Rita (G.W.) Holland.
Survived by her husband of 57 years, Cliff Erwin (retired Joliet police officer) who will always remember her as a loving wife and mother; two sons, Rick (Leslee) Erwin and Ron (Jana) Erwin; grandson, Brad (Cara) Erwin; and great-grandchildren, Avery and Evan, all of Springfield, MO; Matt (Lauren) Erwin of Plainfield, IL and great-grandchild to be, due April of 2014; granddaughter, Bre Erwin and great-granddaughter, Madison; granddaughters, Jill (Jeff) Erwin of Phoenix, AZ, Elizabeth (Travis) Story of Phoenix, AZ and step-grandchildren, Ginelle Mitchell of Plainfield, IL and Jon Mitchell of Indianapolis,IN. She will also be missed by many dear friends, including Evelyn Hackett, Helen Patrick and Joann Juricic.
The Erwin family will forever be grateful to her caregivers, especially Cliff, her devoted husband, the staff at Alden Estates, Dr. Gandhi and staff, Presence St. Joseph Medical Center and the staff of Joliet Area Community Hospice.
Funeral Services for Shirley L. Erwin will be Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to Holy Family Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Shirley's name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated Visitation Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
