"Betty"
Age 96. Peacefully entered her heavenly home on Thursday, November 21, 2013 after a courageous eight-year struggle with the effects of a debilitating stroke. At her side was her loving, cherished, caregiver daughter, Rosemary and niece, Cecilia. Born in Pittsburg, PA on October 14, 1917. From the age of five, Elizabeth grew up on a farm in Mantua, OH. After her marriage, she lived for 70 years in Cleveland, OH where she and her devoted husband raised their family. Following her stroke, Elizabeth "Betty" resided with her daughter in Joliet, IL. Betty was a woman who loved deeply. She was greatly involved in her parish at St. Procop Church and school for more than 50 years. She worked diligently and gave generously of herself to others. She is cherished and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Anna (nee Chrapko) Pechac; brothers, Stephen, Joseph and Peter; one sister, Anna; her best friend and devoted husband, James; and youngest daughter, Barbara Ann Huzl Wilson.
Surviving to carry on her memory are her three children, James J. (Lucille) Huzl, Jr. of Cleveland, OH, Joseph T. Huzl of Nicholasville, KY and Sister Rosemary Huzl, OSF of Joliet, IL; 9 grandchildren, Lori (Russell) Spears, Brian (Jamie) Huzl, Thomas M. Wilson, Lisa (Tyler) Rebman, Beth (Rob) Ryan, James J. (Diane) Huzl, III, Gregory J. Wilson, David (Michelle) Huzl, Michelle Wilson (Dylan) Thomas; 13 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Huzl, Emmalee Huzl, Kayla Ryan, Brooke Huzl, Kelsey Rebman, Zackary Ryan, Mary Rose Huzl, Cole Huzl, Brandt Rebman, Carson Huzl, James J. "JJ" Huzl, B. Carter Thomas, and Madison Thomas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services and a celebration of Betty Huzl's life will take place on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. from the Bollinger-Bican Funeral Home, 9810 Denison Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44102, (216) 961-6400 to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 3395 East 53rd Street, Cleveland, OH for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland, OH.
