Obituary of Karen Woods

Karen Woods (nee Decker) Age 59, of Joliet, passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Karen was a generous and good hearted person who loved taking care of her grandchildren and spending time with her family, especially Sunday dinners. She was also an animal lover and actively supported many animal rescue organizations. She will be remembered for her caring and compassionate personality. Karen worked for Troy Shorewood Grade School, first in the cafeteria and later as a school custodian. Surviving are her two beloved daughters, Hillarey (Paul) Rendleman of Chicago and Kirby (Travis) McConnaughay of Channahon; two adoring grandchildren, Liam and Georgia; her mother, Joan Decker of Carbon Hill; one sister, Sharon Decker of Carbon Hill; one brother, Daniel Decker in Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and her devoted canine friend, Sadie. Preceded by her husband, Richard Woods (November 15, 2002): and her father, Kenneth Decker. Funeral Services for Karen Woods will be Friday, November 29, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Interment will take place on Saturday at Woodlawn Memorial Park at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the Mesothelioma Society would be appreciated.
