Robert J. Skerjan
"Bob"
Age 87. Peacefully Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center, with his family by his side. Born in Joliet, he was a lifelong Joliet/Crest Hill area resident. A WWII U.S. Army veteran serving with the First Cavalry. Former owner/operator of Avsec Printing on Plainfield Road, retiring in 1994 with over 50 years of service. Member of KSKJ, the Senior Citizens Association, Rivals Club, American Legion Post #1080 and St. Anne Catholic Church. Bob was an avid Cubs fan. Former St. Joseph Catholic Church Boy Scout Troop Leader. The Skerjan Family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses on the 8th floor of Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center for the kindness and professional care they have shown our family, they will never be forgotten.
Preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley (nee Jacksa) Skerjan (1965); his parents; one brother, Martin; two sisters, Helen (Jim) McTee and Mary Skerjan.
Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Norma R. (nee Facinelli) Skerjan of Crest Hill; two sons, Robert M. (Sandra A.) Skerjan of Plainfield and Martin J. (Loretta M.) Skerjan of Naperville; one daughter, Patricia A. (Robert K.) Behenna of Lockport; five grandchildren, Mark (Heidi), Michael, Nikki, Jenna and Allie Skerjan; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services for Robert J. Skerjan will be Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Anne Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army.
