Obituary of Sister June Marshall

Sister June Marshall, OSF (Sister Donald Marie) Sister June Marshall, OSF (1934 - 2013) died at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, Joliet, Illinois, on November 26, 2013. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Eleanore (Schroeder) and Joseph Marshall. The oldest of five children, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gary. She is survived by two brothers, Dr. Donald Marshall (Sue) of Maumee, Ohio, and Mikal Marshall (Vikki) of Perrysburg, Ohio, and one sister, Barbara Smith (Dusty) of Anchorage, Alaska. Sister June was a treasured member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate (Joliet) for 57 years. Before entering religious life, Sister June was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Toledo, Ohio. She attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and Central Catholic High School in Toledo. She graduated from St. Francis Academy (Joliet Catholic Academy) in Joliet, Illinois. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of St. Francis (University of St. Francis) in Joliet, Illinois. Sister June began her ministry in the field of education in 1954, teaching Grade 2 at St. John School in Joliet, Illinois. She taught Grade 3 at St. Boniface School in Chicago, Illinois, and St. Peter School in Mansfield, Ohio. She taught Junior High at St. Andrew School in Romeoville, Illinois, St. Raymond School, Joliet, SS Peter and Paul School in Chicago, Sacred Heart School in Englewood, Illinois, and Corpus Christi School in Columbus, Ohio. In 1970 Sister June began a ministry of Social Service and Pastoral Care at Mercy Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. From 1974 until 1985 she did Parish Ministry at St. Peter Parish in Mansfield. She also served as secretary for the Center for Correctional Concerns in Joliet, Illinois. In 1999 she moved to Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home where she continued serving her community. The wake for Sister June will be at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet, Illinois, (Wyoming and Rt. 30) on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, from 2:00 - 6:45 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 4:45 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Procession will leave from Our Lady of Angels on Wednesday morning, December 4, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. The Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois.
