Obituary of Mary Jo Salyers

Mary Jo Salyers (nee Farber) Mary Jo (Farber) Salyers, age 64, was granted her angel wings on Wednesday, November 27, 2013. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and friends that Mary Jo had touched through out her short but very memorable life. Mary Jo was born on September 2, 1949 in Pontiac, IL to Louis Verl and Erma Jean (nee Vitzthum) Farber. She grew up in Mazon and graduated from MVK with the Class of 1967. After working for years in different jobs, she found her nitch in selling real estate and began her career with Onorato Realty. After 20 plus successful years, she recently retired from Century 21 Coleman-Hornsby. On February 2, 1997, Mary Jo married the love of her life, Danny "Ol Pal" Salyers. She and Danny spent many loving years together enjoying each other. Her interests included fishing, hunting, golfing, quilting, traveling and anything that involved her grandchildren. Mary Jo is survived by her loving husband, Danny G. Salyers; her two daughters, Stori Phelps (Carl) Worth and Kindra Phelps (Scott) Messell, both of Morris; two step-daughters, Christina Holman of Winchester, TN and Cristal Salyers of Estille Springs, TN; her three grandchildren, Benjamin Hart, Alivia Messel and Nathaniel Hart; two step-grandsons, Christopher and Deon Holman; one step-great-grandson, Malachi Holman; and her siblings, Jerry (Kris) Farber, Jack (Sharon) Farber, Jim (Bonnie) Farber and Verla (Dick) Ely; along with nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis Verl Farber and Erma Jean Farber, and one brother, Ted Farber. Funeral Services for Mary Jo Salyers will be Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris. As it was Mary Jo's wish, cremation rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grundy County Hospice or Operation St. Nick would be appreciated.
