Obituary of William Campbell

William S. Campbell, Sr. "Scott" Age 39. At rest Saturday, December 28, 2013 at his late residence. Born in Jacksonville, NC to the late James W. and Glenda (nee Thomas) Campbell, he resided in Joliet most of his life. Graduate of Joliet Central High School. Member of the Operating Engineers Local #150. Scott coached 15U Boys Baseball at Ingalls Park, and he played baseball with Belmont, Ingalls Park, Whiteford, Joliet Central and Joliet West. He played softball with the men's and coed teams throughout the area. He was an avid White Sox, Bears and Illini fan,who truly despised the Cubs. Surviving are his two sons, William S. "JR" Campbell, Jr. and Alexander D. "Al" Campbell; his brother, James C. Campbell; his grandmother, Laura "Jeanne" Vallandingham; his loyal companions and guard dogs, Casey and Mugzie; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, William and Gwen Campbell; maternal grandfather, Melvin M. Thomas. Visitation for Scott will be Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Private interment at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery.
