Obituary of Thomas Geddes

Thomas C. Geddes Age 74. At rest Sunday, January 19, 2014 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born and raised in Joliet to the late Sydney and Vera (Hinch) Geddes. Tom was a lifelong resident of the Joliet area, he retired to Florida for 16 years, before returning home two years ago. Graduate of Joliet Township High School, Class of 1958. Retired from Enron Chemical Plant, formerly employed by U.S. Steel. Tom was actively involved in orchestra throughout his high school years. Served as an officer with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Later in life, he enjoyed sailing his radio controlled sailboats. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Merle (Lauterbach) Geddes. Survived by his two daughters, Deborah (Gary) Vanderwall of Plainfield and Tammy Shepherd of Lambertville, MI; four grandchildren, Kelly (Joel) Sheets, Christopher (Francesca) Vanderwall, Amy and Katie Shepherd; three great-grandchildren, Rachel, Vance and Brody Sheets; one sister, Ina (Dave) Eriksen of The Villages, FL; one brother, Ronald (Carol) Geddes of Fincastle, VA. Funeral Services for Thomas C. Geddes will be Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
