Obituary of Virginia Farr

Virginia F. Farr "Jean" (nee Straus) Age 97, passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at Presence Villa Franciscan. Born June 8, 1916 in Aurora, IL. to the late John and Christine (nee Poss) Straus, she had resided in the Joliet area since 1938. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond and the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Cantigny Post #367 where she volunteered for over 40 years at the fish fry's and sewing small stuffed animals for newborns at Silver Cross Hospital. Preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Farr, son, Donald Farr, daughter, Jean Bonucci, son-in-law William Widlowski, her parents, a grandson-in-law and all her siblings. Survived by daughter, Shirley Widlowski, son, John (Debra) Farr, son, Phillip Farr, daughter, Christine Farr; grandchildren, Joseph (Jill) Bonucci, Barbara (Edward) Dobner, Julie (late Tom) Connolly, William (Trudy) Bonucci, Stephen (Kelly) Widlowski, Jeffrey Widlowski, Douglas (Melissa) Widlowski, Nancy (Mike) Ferraro, Sharon Henrichs and Thomas Farr; proud great-grandmother of 17; and many nieces and nephews also survive. The Farr family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Presence Villa Franciscan for their care, kindness and making mom feel "at home" and comfortable while residing there. Funeral Services for Jean Farr will be held Wednesday February 19, 2014 at 11:15 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:00 Noon. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Presence Villa Franciscan or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
