Obituary of Jean Schuette
Jean M. Schuette
(nee Ventsias)
Age 63, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at home with her family by her side. Born in Joliet and a Woodstock resident for the past 37 years.
Jean was born August 17, 1950 in Joliet to the late Emanuel "Mike" and Annette "Babs" (nee Policandriotes) Ventsias. She was a graduate of Yorkville High School, Class of 1968, Eastern Illinois University, and Southern Illinois University where she received a Masters degree in Special Education. She retired from Northwood Middle School in District 200 after 28 years of service, and 34 years as an educator.
During the cold Midwest winters, Jean and Edwin loved to spend the winters in Florida walking the beach. They also volunteered at their church, Saint Sophias Greek Orthodox Church in Elgin, and the Homeless Shelters with the Pads Program in Woodstock.
Survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Edwin L. Schuette of Woodstock; three daughters, Laura (Robert) Stanell of Bradenton, FL, Caryn (Nick) Marshall of Antioch, IL and Annette (Raj) Clark of Houston, TX; one son, Michael (Jena) Schuette of Marengo, IL; six grandchildren, Bobby, Rachel, Nick, Tony, Maya and Jacob; and one brother, James (Lori) Ventsias of Channahon. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral Services for Jean M. Schuette will be held Friday, February 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 102 N. Broadway, Joliet. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park II. Memorials in her name to American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
