Obituary of James Papaeliou

James D. Papaeliou Age 71, late of Streator, and formerly of Elmwood Park and Chicago, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 16, 2014 surrounded by his loved ones. Born May 30, 1942 in Chicago, he was the son of the late Demosthenes and Helen (nee Spiniolas) Papaeliou. He was raised in Elmwood Park and later attended Southern Illinois University. He served his country with the United States Army. He resided in Chicago for most of his adult life. He is survived by two sons, Demosthenes "D" (Marla) Papaeliou and James Papaeliou, Jr.; one daughter, Dawn Marie Papaeliou; his dearest companion, Alice Barrett; two brothers, Steve Papaeliou and Dr. Louis (Judy) Papaeliou; three nieces, Emily, Inge Marie and Lia; and three nephews, Danny, Matthew and Alex. Memorial Services for James D. Papaeliou will be held Friday, February 21, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris, where visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until time of services. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with full military honors will take place Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. Memorials in his name to the family would be appreciated.
