Obituary of Patrick Cleary
Patrick J. Cleary
Age 87, of Joliet, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born January 30, 1927 in Joliet, he was the son of the late Harry and Rosan (nee Hannaway) Cleary, and a lifelong Joliet resident. He was a graduate of St. Patrick Grade School, Joliet Catholic High, and Joliet Junior College where he played on their champion baseball team as a pitcher. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Retired from the United States Post Office as a mail carrier after more than 35 years of service, and later worked for First Midwest Bank. Pat was an avid golfer and as a young man was quite a bowler and baseball player. Member of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #300 and American Legion Post #1080.
Surviving are four stepchildren, Kathleen Moeller, Cindy (Mike) McKeand, Robert (Julie) Moeller, and Joyce Moeller; nine grandchildren, Cassandra (Frank) Campos, Michael (Lisa) McKeand, Kerri McKeand, Samantha (Marzell) Richardson, Nicole Moeller USAF, Robert Moeller, Drew Horen, Zack (Joanie) Horen and Graham Horen; six great-grandchildren, Cecelia, Daniel (Rachel), Myranda, Laila, Marzell III and Naomi; and one great-great-grandson, Krash.
He was preceded by his beloved wife, Charlotte (nee Wright) Cleary (October 4, 2002); his parents; and one infant sister, Rose Marie.
A Memorial Mass for Patrick J. Cleary will be celebrated on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, 706 N. Broadway, Joliet. Family and friends are also invited to attend the entombment of his urn at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Arrangements by Fred C. Dames Funeral Home.
