Obituary of Harry Heintz

Harry Willard Heintz Age 92. At rest Monday, February 17, 2014 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born September 30, 1921 in Plainfield Township to Harry and Cora Heintz. Retired from ComEd in 1982 with 42 years of service. Member of VFW Cantigny Post #367, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #300 and the Joliet Elks Lodge #296. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Estes in the Pacific Theater during World War II (1942-1946) as a radioman second class. Harry was an avid golfer, who also enjoyed bowling. He loved playing his musical instruments, the piano, organ and accordion. Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Evelyn B. (nee Bentson); daughters, Becky (Pete) Smith, Sally Heintz and Amy Heintz; grandchildren, Kimberly Pickering, Carrie (Paul) Knorr and Brian Pickering; great-grandfather of Baby girl Knorr expected in April; also many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Proctor; and brother, James Heintz. Funeral Services for Harry Willard Heintz will be held Friday, February 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet. Inurnment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Wounded Warrior Foundation would be appreciated. Visitation Thursday 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
