Obituary of Sister Mary Lukowski

Sister Mary Annuntiata Lukowski, PCC Sr. Mary Annuntiata, age 87, of the Holy Angels, PCC went to meet her Lord on Monday, March 3, 2014 in Poor Clare Annunciation Monastery in Minooka. She was born Frances Lukowski on July 31, 1926 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Paul and Anastasia Lukowski. She was the sister of the late Anthony, Bernard, and Florian Lukowski, Marie (late Edward) Kaminski, Julia (late Rudolph) Struzch and Helen (late Frank) Liebner. She was an Extern Poor Clare Colettine nun, entering and taking her vows in the Perpetual Adoration Monastery on Laflin Street in Chicago, before the community moved to her new monastery in Hickory Hills. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and her religious Sisters at Annunciation Monastery in Minooka. She studied at St. Bronislavea School and Brown High School, and graduated from Loretto Academy, in Woodlawn. Before entering the monastery in 1959, she was employed by the Aetna Insurance Company. She served in Corpus Christi Monastery in Rockford before helping with the new foundation in Minooka in 1995. As an Extern Sister who does not take the vow of enclosure, she was known by many of our friends and benefactors and she deeply appreciated their kindness and friendship and their sharing of their many joys and sorrows. She will be deeply missed. Funeral Services for Sr. Annuntiata Lukowski will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Annunciation Monastery, 6200 E. Minooka Road, Minooka, IL where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. The Most Reverend Joseph L. Imesch will officiate. Interment will be in Annunciation Monastery Cemetery. Memorials in her name to Annunciation Monastery would be appreciated. Visitation will be Friday, March 7, 2014 at Annunciation Monastery from 4-6 p.m. with recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 p.m., and Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until time of Mass.
