Obituary of William Kennedy

William R. Kennedy Age 74. At rest Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Silver Cross Hospital following a brief illness. Born October 5, 1939 in Chicago to the late Eileen Brock, he was the adopted son of William and Loretta Kennedy. He retired in 1999 from Amoco Chemical following 38 years of service as a Safety Superintendent and Fire Chief. He was a volunteer for 43 years at the Channahon Fire Department, currently Captain. Member of the Police and Fire Commission, and in the 1970's was one of the original officers for the Channahon Police Department. Member of the Will County L.E.P.C. Past President of the Condo Association in Hayward, WI and was currently Treasurer. Member of the Buck Fever Deer Hunting Club. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, and feeding the wildlife, but most of all loved his family time at the cabin. Survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Pamela (nee Tobenski) Kennedy; children, Thomas (Susan), Kellie (Steve) Chasten, and Tanya (Mike) Earing; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Melissa) Chasten, Hannah and Nathan Kennedy, Kelsie Chasten, Madison, Kylie, Taylor and Sydney Earing; great-grandson, Jacob Chasten; siblings, David (Mae Rose) Kennedy and Patt (Tom) Thompson; son-in-law of Geraldine Tobenski; brother-in-law of Vicki (Robert) Hensley, Denny (Janice) Tobenski, Randy (Jill) Tobenski, Bonnie Draper and Connie (Rex) Dionne; uncle of many nieces and nephews; and a friend to all who knew him. Preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Floyd Tobenski. Funeral Services for William R. Kennedy will be Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet to St. Ann Catholic Church, Channahon for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to St. Ann Catholic Church or Cancer Research would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday 1:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
