Paul O. Brown
Age 69. At rest Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at his home in Shorewood, surrounded by his devoted family.
Born August 23, 1944 in Carlinville, IL, he was a graduate of Carlinville High School and attended Parks College of Aviation in St. Louis. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam, where he flew with the Special Forces.
Paul worked as a commercial pilot for many years for the former Midway Airlines. He had his flight instructor rating and directed the Flight School at Lewis University where he also taught flying. He retired from Lemont High School where he worked as a maintenance engineer following his career in aviation. Member of the Harwood Post #5 American Legion past commander.
Flying was his life but he also was very outgoing and very active. He loved dancing, exercising, and spending time in Florida. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a devoted dad and a cherished grandfather who was always willing to help anyone who called on him.
Survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Kathleen (nee McGowan) Brown; two sons, Paul Brown of Shorewood and Brian (Bethanie) Brown of Shorewood; two grandchildren, Chandler Brown and Nora Brown; six brothers; three sisters; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful buddy, Barkley.
Preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Mary Jane Brown; and one sister in infancy.
Funeral Services for Paul O. Brown will be Monday, March 17, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to Holy Family Catholic Church for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
