Obituary of Joseph Compagnoni

Joseph Compagnoni Age 81, late of Shorewood, and formerly of Chicago Heights and Glenwood, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with his loving family at his side. Born October 15, 1932 in Chicago Heights, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Louise (nee Barbarese) Compagnoni. He attended Mount Carmel Grade School and Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, Class of 1950. He worked for Amsco Foundry in Chicago Heights for many years, and later was purchasing agent for Vulcan Tub and Metal. He retired from Acme Barrel. Joe was active in his former parish, St. Kieran Catholic Church in Chicago Heights, and St. Kieran School. He was past president of Marian Catholic High School Band Parents Association, and a member of the Marchegiana Society of Chicago Heights. He enjoyed traveling, and his family will always remember great vacations they shared together throughout the country. Joe also loved splitting his time between his home in Shorewood and his cottage in Michigan. Joe enjoyed bowling and golfing in his earlier years, and loved watching sports especially his favorite south side teams and the University of Notre Dame. Surviving are his beloved wife of 49 years, Judy (nee Laurie) Compagnoni of Shorewood; two loving daughters, Marcie (John) Elfrink of Columbia, MO and Gia (Richard Kanak) Compagnoni of Tower Lakes, IL; six wonderful grandchildren, Laura, age 15, Vincent, age 12, Sophia, age 10, and Lucy, age 8, Elfrink and Ricky, age 11, and Jackson, age 9, Kanak; and one devoted sister, Mac Compagnoni of Chicago Heights. Funeral services for Joe Compagnoni will be Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 10:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 N. Brookforest Drive (Route 59), Shorewood, for Mass at 11:00 a.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following services. Memorials in his name to the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home would be appreciated. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home. For information (815) 741-5500.
