Obituary of George Calamaras

George Calamaras Age 80, of Costa Mesa, California, passed away peacefully, at his home Wednesday, June 16, 2010. He was born in Joliet on February 8, 1930 to the late Peter and Catherine (nee Bonas) Calamaras, he was raised here, attending Joliet schools and graduating from Joliet Township High School and the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana. He served in the U.S. Navy, being honorably discharged in the early 1950's. George was a resident of Southern California since 1960. He retired in 2002 as an Advertising and Public Relations Executive after operating the Calamaras Company of New Port, Beach, CA, founded by George in 1981. He is survived by his sisters, Elizabeth (late Nick) Honiotes and Jennie (late Jim) Honiotes; a beloved companion and best friend, Judy Bass of California. Fond uncle of numerous nieces and nephews, George was also a proud great-uncle of several great-nieces and great-nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Irene (Angelo) Aggelopoulos and Dee (late Joe) Chizmark. Funeral Services for George Calamaras will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
