Obituary of Luz Calcanas

Luz Maria Calcanas (nee Castillo) Age 81. Friday, January 16, 2009 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Mexico on July 9, 1927, she was a long time Joliet area resident. Former owner/operator along with her late husband Marco, of Marco's Restaurant & Lounge. Member of St. John Catholic Church. Retired from the Bank of Joliet in 1999 as a bilingual teller, following 15 years of service. Survived by her children, Marco J. (Wendy) Calcanas of Joliet, Dee (Jorge) Lopez of Channahon, Pam Calcanas of Joliet and Ed Calcanas of Joliet; five grandchildren, Christine (Jerry) Austin, Elizabeth (Shaun) Burian, Jacque (Gabe) Perez, Alex Lopez and Joseph Calcanas; four great-grandchildren, Caden Dernulc, Marissa Perez, Gabriela Perez and Reed Burian; four brothers, Jose Luis (Jimmie) of Georgia, Rudy (late Jean) of Joliet, Martin (Lois) of Georgia and Albert Castillo of Rockdale; two sisters, Vera (Joe) Ramirez of Joliet and Frances Castillo of Joliet; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Marco P. Calcanas (April 2004); her parents, Guadalupe and Apolina (nee Mendoza) Castillo; one grandson, Christopher Lopez; five brothers, Tony, Guty, Fabiol, Ray, and Sal Castillo. Funeral services for Luz Maria Calcanas will be Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. John Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
