Obituary of Carole Whalen

Carole J. Whalen (nee Erickson) Age 74, of Rock Island, and formerly of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Trinity West Medical Center in Rock Island, IL with her family by her side. Carole worked as a long distance operator for AT&T for 30 years. She also was employed by Blackhawk College Rock Island for several years. She loved to play bingo and enjoyed investments and following the stock market. Survived by her devoted sister, Eleanor (late Raymond) Pesavento of Crest Hill; her loving nieces, Debra (Roy) Mitchell of Channahon, Linda (late Scott) Strysik of Crest Hill and Patricia (Brian) Kulesza of Joliet; cherished great-nieces and great-nephew, Susan and Kelly Mitchell and Adam and Laura Strysik; and a very special friend, Sarah Lage of Rock Island. Preceded by her parents, Carl E. and Mary E. (nee Scholes) Erickson; her former husband, Robert E. Whalen; and her faithful canine companion, Freda. Funeral Services for Carole J. Whalen will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
