Louis R. Peyla Age 83. Died on Friday, March 28, 2014, at Healthpark Medical Center in Ft. Myers, Florida, after a brief illness. He was a graduate of the Cathedral of St. Raymond grade school, St. John's Northwestern Military Academy and Illinois Wesleyan University (1953). He proudly served his country as a United States Marine Corps captain. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Edna (Messer) Peyla and by his four children, Gregory (Susan) Peyla of Shorewood, Kimberly (David Thornton) Edmiston of Joliet, Jeffrey (Viola Vega) Peyla of Joliet, and Laurie Rambo of Joliet. His daughter, Julie Peyla Holladay, died in 2005. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Nicole Edmiston, Seth Peyla, Emma and Ian Rambo. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Lou O'Brien Jackson of Highland Beach, Florida, and by his brother, Charles R. (Patricia) Peyla of Ft. Myers, Florida. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends also survive him. He is further survived by Patrica (Bottino) Peyla, his first wife, and mother of his five children. Edna Peyla's daughters, Debra Cain and Donna Bradley, also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers-in-law, George M. O'Brien and William Jackson, his sister-in-law, Jacqueline Peyla, and his niece, Leah Peyla. Louis and his brother, Charles Peyla, were the owners and chief executive officers of the Illinois Securities Company for over 40 years. He served as a dedicated board member for: Will County Center for Economic Development, George Werden Buck Boys & Girls Club, Joliet Regional Chamber of Commerce, Joliet Junior College Foundation, and First National Bank of Joliet. He was an elected City of Joliet Councilman from 1972 - 1976. He was a member of the Joliet Rotary Club, the Joliet Country Club, the Downtown Development Council and the Joliet YMCA. He was recognized as Joliet's Outstanding Young Man of the Year in 1961. He was also the recipient of several civic and community awards. Louis was also a devoted Chicago Cubs fan, and had a life-long love of the Wisconsin Northwoods and the game of golf. His death, for his family and many friends, is an incalculable loss. We will mourn him with quiet passion through every coming season. The days ahead have lost some bright color and faint music which cannot be replaced. Our only consolation resides in the belief that he now prospers in heaven. May we all be as fortunate as he was in life and death. Visitation for Louis R.
