Obituary of Stephen Decman
Stephen J. Decman
Age 71, of Joliet, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with his wife and sister by his side.
Born August 23, 1942 in Joliet, he was the son of August Joseph and Virginia (nee Clark) Decman. He was a graduate of the University of St. Francis and a veteran of the United States Navy. He worked for Argonne National Laboratory, Lemont, where he worked as a Property Specialist, retiring after 30 years of service.
Stephen was an avid chess player and was a member of the Argonne Chess Team. He also loved fishing and enjoyed nature and the outdoors. He will be remembered for his beautiful artwork and photography.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Beverly J. (nee Yurkovich) Decman of Joliet; two sisters, Margaret "Peggy" (late Donald) James of Oregon and Susan (late Russell) Watkins of San Jose, CA; six nieces; one nephew; and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, William Decman.
A Memorial Visitation for Stephen J. Decman will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Cremation Rites have been accorded and the entombment of his urn will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery immediately following the visitation.
