Obituary of Kenneth Wruk
Kenneth R. Wruk, Sr.
Age 83. Peacefully at rest, April 4, 2014. Born on July 3, 1930 in Joliet, to the late Leo and Martha (nee Malinowski) Wruk. Kenneth was a lifelong Joliet resident and member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
A graduate of DeVry University, Kenneth worked as an electrical engineer for Zenith Corporation, holding several patents in the design of hearing aids. Kenneth also owned a television repair and video recording business. He was a hard worker and was known throughout the community as the "TV man." He was a member of the US Army, serving during the Korean War. Kenneth was a member of Knights of Columbus and the Polish National Alliance. He loved gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a dedicated father and will be missed by all.
Survived by his six children, Ken (Nancy) Wruk Jr. of Joliet, Vicki (Bill) Schmitz of Joliet, Donna Joutras of Joliet, Neda (Daniel) Zelehovitis of Joliet, Martin (Joan) Wruk of Crest Hill and Kristine Walker of Joliet; his grandchildren, Katie, Colleen (fiancé, Matt Clementi) Wruk, Bill (Jennie) Schmitz, Mandi (Jon) Casford, Heather Joutras, Andrea (fiancé, Erik Lindholm) Lang, Alexis, Nicholas and Anthony Zelehovitis, Jeffery and Michelle Cullen, Gianna Wruk, Kasi (fiancé, Ryan Tibble) and Jayme Walker; his great-grandchildren, Cassidy Schmitz, Madison and Megan Casford, Gavin Colvin, Kaleb Lindholm and Trevor Cullen; his brother-in-law, Ned (Laura) Rocks; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded by his beloved wife of 58 years, Gloria M. Wruk (October 27, 2013); granddaughter Theresa A. Lang; parents; and one brother, Donald Wruk.
Special thanks to his daughter, Donna Joutras, who made it possible for Kenneth to remain at home during his illness; Hospice, for all of their help and support during this difficult time, especially Geraldine, Cathy, Dee and Chaplin Jim.
A Memorial Mass for Kenneth R. Wruk, Sr. will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 901 Elizabeth St. (1 block North of Ruby St. ), Joliet. Family will receive all friends and relatives from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
