Gerald R. Clennon
Age 83. Peacefully Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at his late residence with his family by his side, following a lingering illness. Born in Minooka to the late Gerald and Veronica (nee Kennedy) Clennon, he was a lifelong resident. A U.S. Army Korean War veteran (1953-1955). Former owner/operator of the Clennon Insurance Agency for 50 years. Jerry farmed on the family property for many years. Member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Minooka, the Knights of Columbus and Stone City Post VFW #2199. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Jerry took great pride in preserving the family homestead.
Surviving are his seven children, Geraldine (Jason) Houck, Daniel (Robyn) Clennon, Susanne (Brian) Clodi and Diane Clennon all of Minooka, Stephen Clennon of Morris, Kathleen (Joseph) Pershey and Lisa (Darin Hinich) Clennon both of Minooka; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren with on on the way; one sister, Janet (David) Kuhn of Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his faithful canine companion, Teddy the Dog.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Janet M., (nee Bischof) Clennon (2006); one son, Thomas (1999); one sister, Joan Olson; three brothers, Richard, Robert and Ronald in infancy.
Funeral Services for Gerald R. Clennon will be Monday, May 12, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet to St. Mary Catholic Church, Minooka for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment St. Mary Cemetery, Minooka. Memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or St. Mary Catholic Church would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
