Elizabeth Fier "Betty" (nee Batusich) Age 101, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Lakewood Nursing & Rehabilitation. Born in Joliet, she was a lifelong Joliet area resident. A member of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Alex Fier (1970); her parents, John and Antonia (nee Kezerle) Batusich; one brother, John Batusich; three sisters, Katherine Jankovich, Tillie Marketti, and Frances Tomac Survived by one son, Donald M. (Myrna) Fier of Shorewood; two grandchildren, Traci (Brian) Hafner and Mark Alexander (Dawn) Fier; five great-grandchildren, Zach and Joshua Hafner, Madelyn, Nicholas and Paige Fier; one sister, Agnes (late Gene) Starr of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Lakewood Nursing & Rehabilitation and Joliet Area Community Hospice for their loving and compassionate care. Funeral Services for Betty Fier will be Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice.
