John W. Weltmeyer
Age 81. At rest Monday, May 26, 2014 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born June 29, 1932 in Homewood, IL, he also resided in Harvey, IL for several years until moving to Joliet in 1960. Retired from Union Local #174 after many years of service. A U.S. Army veteran, he served in Korea. He was an avid coin hunter and wood crafter.
Beloved husband of the late Edna M. (nee Hibner); loving father of Karen L. (David) Korte of Sheridan, IL, John M. (Belinda) Weltmeyer of Morris, IL, Janet L. (Lonnie D.) Nance of Springfield, MO and Larry S. (Leslie A.) Weltmeyer of Joliet; grandfather of Sharilyn (Jon) Wipf, Tami (Shawn) Rutan, Rebecca Korte; Philip Weltmeyer, Sandra, Joseph and Ashanti; Johnathon, Elizabeth and Joseph Nance; and Megan Weltmeyer; one great-granddaughter, Nadia; one brother, Roy Weltmeyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Frank W. and Beatrice (nee Zype) Weltmeyer; two sisters, Genevieve Osika and Vera Osborn; and one brother, Norman Weltmeyer.
Funeral Services for John W. Weltmeyer will be Friday, May 30, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
