Obituary of Nicholas Simotes

Nicholas Simotes Age 80, passed away peacefully, Wednesday June 4, 2014 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. . Born in Joliet and a long time Channahon resident. A United States Marine Corp. Veteran serving in the Korean War. Retired from the Department of Corrections as a shift commander after over 24 years of service. He was also a licensed real estate broker. Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Doris Ann (nee Pipkin) Simotes of Channahon; four sons, Lawrence Steven (Lisa) Simotes of Minooka, Nicholas Ray (Cindy) Simotes of Plainfield, Mark Allen (Lynn) Simotes of Channahon and Brian Scott Simotes of Channahon; one daughter, Diana Lynn (Bob) Brown of Channahon; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Anthony (Catherine) Simotes of Florida and John (Betty) Simotes of Joliet; one sister, Ann (the late Leonard) Raughton of Colorado. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Rose (nee Koukas) Simotes; two brothers, Jimmy and Mike Simotes; one sister, Mary Blank. Funeral Services for Nicholas Simotes will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Channahon, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to St. Ann Catholic Church would be appreciated. Visitation Monday June 9, 2014 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W.
