Obituary of John Wood

John A. Wood Age 62. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. John was a loving and devoted husband, and a caring and supportive father. He adored his grandchildren and was very involved in their lives. He worked many years as a truck driver. Surviving are his beloved wife of 41 years, Nancy M. (nee Runge) Wood; his children, Lori (Brad) Shawmeker of Joliet and Kimmie Hill of Plainfield; four grandchildren, Jeremy Shawmeker, Ashley Shawmeker, Tyler Hill and Cameron Hill; two sisters, Betty Wood of Kankakee, and Patricia Groll of Dwight; one brother, Chester (Deniece) Wood of Morris; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded by his parents, Chester and Beatrice (nee Jurewitcz) Wood; and two sisters, Georgia Demick and Jean Alice Wood. Memorial services for for John Wood will be Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Interment will be private.
