Obituary of Keith Slager

Keith D. Slager Age 56. Peacefully Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice home following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer with his beloved wife by his side. Born in Chicago, a longtime Burbank and Joliet resident before moving to Channahon 12 years ago. A graduate of the University of Illinois with a bachelors degree in Kinesiology and also Reavis High School in Burbank, IL Class of 1976. Keith was a member of the Illinois State Rifle Association, the National Rifle Association and the Illinois Patriot Guard. His favorite things to do were spend time with his family and friends, hunting, target shooting, fishing, baseball and riding his Harley Davidson. Preceded by his father, Melvin "Mickey" Slager; and one brother, Daniel. Survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Amy L. (nee Kopko) Slager of Channahon; two daughters, Catherine and Melle Slager, both of Channahon; his mother, Geraldine (nee Brandt) Slager; one nephew, Kevin Slager, both of Joliet. A Memorial Service for Keith D. Slager will be held Friday, June 20, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. As it was Keith's request, Cremation Rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the Illinois State Rifle Association would be appreciated.
