Obituary of Mary Muir

Mary Jane Muir Mary Jane Muir, age 79, of Joliet, went home to the Lord, on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born November 1, 1934 in Joliet, she attended St. Patrick Grade School and Providence High School. She gave ten years of her life to God as a Dominican Sister of Adrian, Michigan. She taught at Parks School for 25 years, and loved reading and traveling, especially to Ft. Myers Beach in Florida. She will be greatly missed by all. Surviving are her beloved companion, Dorothy Schreiner; two sisters, Ruth (late Jack) Hayes and Lois (Ronald) Schaller; one brother, George (Adeline) Muir; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elizabeth (nee Helmers) Muir; one sister, Helen (Cecil) Whalen; and brothers, Maurice Muir, Kenneth (Starr) Muir, Edward (Rosemary) Muir, Robert (Trudie) Muir, and Eugene (Margaret) Muir. A special thank you to her niece, Mary Lynn Muir (Ferone), for her selfless help through this journey. Funeral services for Mary Jane Muir will be Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
