Obituary of Clarence Georgantas

Clarence R. Georgantas "Teak" Age 86. Peacefully, Monday, August 4, 2014 at his residence, with his family by his side. An Alumni of Joliet Catholic High School Class of 1946. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. Teak was a jeweler for over 70 years until his retirement on June 30, 2014. He was owner and operator of G&K Jewelers in Chicago and Georgantas Jewelers in Shorewood. He loved being a jeweler and had a passion for repairing old watches and clocks. He enjoyed all of the visits to his store by his family members, long time friends and customers. Teak had a unique sense of humor and was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be greatly missed. Preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Donald, George (Georgetta) and Robert (Gloria) Georgantas; and one sister, Betty Bick. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Theresa (nee Mandel) Georgantas of Shorewood; four sons, Gregg "Storm" (Donna) of Channahon, Mark of Las Vegas, NV, Frank of Shorewood and Charles "Chuck" Georgantas of Crest Hill; one daughter, Clare Terese "CT" Georgantas of Chicago; five grandchildren, Tara, Alex, Behron, Macey and Ainslie; two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Madison; one brother, "Dick" (Judy) Georgantas of Joliet; two sisters, Lorraine (late David) A'Hearn of Joliet and Connie A'Hearn of Lockport; and many nieces and nephews who were very special to him. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Kishor Ajmere for his excellent medical care, and personal friendship they had developed through the years. They would also like to acknowledge the professionalism and care received from Joliet Area Community Hospice. Thank you to family and friends for their love and support during this past month. As it was Teak's final request, Cremation Rites have been accorded and private funeral services were held. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Cornerstone Services would be appreciated.
