Jack J. Cotton
"Papa"
Age 71. Saturday, August 16,2014 at his late residence, with his loving family by his side. Born in Mattoon, IL to the late Jesse James and Viola (nee Tate) Cotton, he had resided in Joliet since 1963. A U.S. Army veteran. Retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in 1999 following 35 years of service. Member of the Joliet Archery Club, NRA, ISRA, Joliet Moose Lodge #300, Ducks Unlimited, Kingsway Kickers and Pheasants Forever. He was also a former coach for Belmont Little League. Jack was a true outdoorsman and thoroughly enjoyed taxidermy.
Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Hena (nee Gutierrez) Cotton; children, Tina Marie Cotton and Jesse James (Jacquie) Cotton, all of Joliet; five grandchildren, Olvido "Betina" Fitzpatrick, Bonnie Annabel Stilley, Brittany Renee Fredericks, Kara Kreinbrink and Jake Thieme; four great-grandsons; six great-granddaughters; his mother, Viola; two sisters, Joann Barnet and Barbara Yancey; two brothers, Donald and John Cotton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Jack J. Cotton will be Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet. Funeral Services Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial in Coons Cemetery, Neoga, will follow the Mass at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to St. Jude Children's Hospital would be appreciated.
