Robert D. Wise
Age 89. At rest Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Lockport on January 19, 1925, he was a lifelong Joliet resident. A United States WWII Army Veteran, serving in the European African and Middle Eastern Theatres. He served with the Third Army under General Patton in the Field Artillery 284th Battalion in Germany and France. Recipient of the Purple Heart and the Presidential Citation. After the war, he was reassigned to Military MP's in Brandenburg, Germany. He attended Joliet Township High School. Bob was employed in the security/safety department for 30 years at Caterpillar in Aurora, retiring July 1, 1987. He was an avid Cubs fan.
Preceded in death by his wife, Helen L. (Robinson) (nee Stephens) Wise (1999); his parents, Thomas H. and Marjorie L. (nee Landon) Wise; and one stepdaughter, Dianna Clausen.
Survived by his wife, Evelyn A. (Alberico) Wise; children, Irene (Bruce) Albers of Morris, Robert J. (Sue) Wise of Sandwich, Denise (Jack) Spreitzer of Bellingham, WA, Sharlene (George) Thomas of Shorewood and Jon P. Wise of Naperville; stepchildren, Ronald (Linda) Robinson and Wayne (Judy) Alberico, all of Joliet; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Jeanne M. (late Leon E. "Bud") Hicks of Joliet; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services for Robert D. Wise will be held Friday, September 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Will County Humane Society would be appreciated. Visitation Thursday 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
