Obituary of Lawrence Carter

**PHOTO** **FLAG*** Lawrence Edward Carter "Larry" Lawrence Edward Carter, age 81, passed peacefully Sunday, September 7, 2014 in his home with his loving children and caregiver at his side, following complications secondary to advanced prostate cancer. He was born in Joliet, IL on November 18,1932, to John and Margaret (nee Homerding) Carter. He was a long time Minooka area resident. Larry proudly served in the United States Army, and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a retired foreman at Amoco Chemicals with 30+ years of service. Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He enjoyed gardening, classic country music, and spending time with family and friends. Survived by his son, Clint Carter; daughter, Brenda Freeman; grandson, William Carter Freeman; and sister, Margaret Clearwaters. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret; his loving wife, Donna G. (nee Sheridan); and brothers, Jack and Thomas Carter. A heartfelt thank you to his long time primary care physician, Dr. Robert S. Schubert and associate, Dr. Margaret Zabiega; the staff at Alden Estates of Shorewood; and the staff at Presence Hospice. A very special thank you to his private caregiver, Lydia Phillips, for her dedication and loving care. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 12, 2014 at the funeral home.
