Obituary of Kenneth Gawron

Kenneth Franklin Gawron Age 74, of Plainfield, died September 12, 2014 at home in the comfort of his family. Born November 30, 1939 in Chicago, IL, son of Michael and Eleanor Gawron. He married Joanne (nee Janiszewski) on February 2, 1963 at St. Joseph Church in Round Lake, IL. His wife, Joanne, along with family, were by his side at the time of his passing. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1963. He retired from Crane Packing Co. after 42 years of service. His door was always open to those in need. He volunteered with food pantries, women's shelters and various social groups. He and Joanne were foster parents through Catholic Charities. He also pursued various leisure activities throughout his life including golfing with fellow parishioners from Holy Family, bowling on a league and even camping with his sons when they were Boy Scouts. In addition to his wife, JoAnne, he is survived by two sons, Stephen (Peggy) and Gregory (Leslie) Gawron, all of Plainfield; six grandchildren, Jacob Gawron of Plainfield, Ian Gawron of Iowa City, IA, Sophie Gawron of Burlington, IA, Alexa McNish of Johnsburg, IL and Anna and Ava Gawron, both of Plainfield; one brother, Bill (Bernadine) Gawron of Wildwood, IL; two sisters, Karen (Charles) May of Peoria and Diane (James, II) Harper of McHenry, IL; one sister-in-law, Judy (Dr. Leo) Wrona of Shorewood, IL; one brother-in-law, John (Margaret) Janiszewski of Wauconda, IL; 19 nieces and nephews; and 35 grandnieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Eleanor; in-laws, Sigmund and Mae Janiszewski; and one nephew, Ryan May. Mr. Gawron will be deeply missed by everyone who's life he touched, and he will live forever in our hearts and memories. Funeral Services for Kenneth Franklin Gawron will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 N. Brookforest Drive, Shorewood, IL 60404, where visitation will be held in the Church Narthex from 10:00 a.m. until Mass is celebrated at 12 noon. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
