Obituary of LeEtta Carter

LeEtta Marie Carter (nee Davy) Age 84, late of Morris, and formerly of Joliet, Lake Placid, FL and Kankakee, passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 at Morris Hospital. Born December 7, 1929 in Joliet, she was the daughter of Royal E. and Marie (nee Farley) Davy. She worked for a few years as a long distance telephone operator before becoming a homemaker and raising her family, and later was Activity Director for the former Imperial Nursing Home in Joliet. LeEtta was a former 50 year member of the First Lutheran Church of Joliet, Job's Daughters and Will County Home Extension. She enjoyed reading and crafts, cooking, music, and was a collector of cookbooks. She was also an accomplished pianist and accompanist. She and her husband also volunteered as the Christian Clowns "Hollee" and "CeeMor" while living in Florida. Surviving are her children, James (Jean Ann) Carter of Morris, Kathleen (Mark) Paydon of Plainfield, Beverlee (David) Bergevin of Hixson, TN, and Terry Carter of Ashkum; eight grandchildren, Marie "Beth" (Sandee) Paydon, Emilee (Ivan Perez) Paydon, Tyler Paydon, Adam (Danielle) Carter, Sarah (Joe) Kampe, Angela (Andy) Gonzalez, Samantha Carter, and Melissa (Michael) Miesner; three great-grandchildren, Carter Dean Perez, Devin Kampe and Lorenzo Gonzalez; two sisters, Beverly (late Raymond) Egly of Joliet, and Marie E. (late Eugene) Kramer of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded by her husband, Richard Allen Carter (November 20, 2011); her parents; and a brother, Royal Jack Davy, in infancy. Memorial services for LeEtta Carter will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris, where visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Pastor Don Gillispie of Zion Lutheran Church, Ashkum, will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded and entombment of her urn will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum, Joliet. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grundy County Humane Society.
