Obituary of Richard Packley

Richard E. Packley Age 83, of Joliet, died peacefully, Friday, September 26, 2014, surrounded by family at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. He was born September 10, 1931 to the late Isabella (nee McManus) and Francis Packley in Chicago, IL where he was raised and educated, a graduate of Lane Tech High School. Dick resided in Joliet most of his adult life and was a retired Ironworker after 45 years of dedicated service. A faithful member and Apprentice Board Member of Local 444 for many years. Beloved husband of 57 years to Arlene (nee Alberico); loving father of Rick (Beth), Robyn (Brian) Okon and Tami (David) Georgeff; proud grandfather of Kara Anderson, Dana Packley, Sydnie and Brynn Okon, Jake and Luke Georgeff; fond brother of Robert (deceased), Wilson (Pat), Jane (Joseph) Sieracki, Frank (Bonnie), David (Jamie), Dan (Marsha); brother-in-law of Geri McGinn and Richard (Geri, deceased) Alberico; dearest uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Dick was an avid outdoorsman who influenced the lives of many young people. A member of the Bass and Gill Club, he will forever be remembered for his great sense of humor and for always being in a good mood. Funeral Services for Richard E. Packley will be Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Homes, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet to St. Anne Catholic Church, Crest Hill for Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or St. Anne Catholic Church would be appreciated.
