Age 93, a lifetime Minooka, IL resident, passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Park Pointe Healthcare and Rehab Center in Morris, IL. Born May 27, 1921 to the late Madeline (nee Briscoe) and William Brannick, she attended Dresden Hill School, St. Francis Academy and the College of St. Francis.
Beloved wife of 42 years to the late Noble Collins; loving mother of Mary Ann Collins of Albuquerque, NM, Beth (Terry) McDonald of Minooka and William (Mindy) Collins of Minooka. Devoted grandmother of Michelle (Kellen) Walker of Channahon, Megan (John) Goolsby of Shorewood, Elizabeth Collins (fiance Zach Robinson), Emily Collins and Madeline Collins, all of Minooka. Proud great-grandmother of Kennedy and Landon Walker. Dear sister-in-law of Leota (Merlin) Hummel of Montgomery, IL and Aletha (late Paul) Collins of Newark, IL. Several nieces, nephews and cousins, including special cousin, Ann Burgess of Morris, also survive.
Mary Pat , a retired educator, taught at Cryder School, Dresden Hill and Channahon Schools. A lifetime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Minooka where she was an active volunteer, a former director and teacher of the RE program, CCW member as well as a member of the Minooka Womens Club. She traveled extensively in her lifetime and enjoyed playing cards-bridge, pinnochle and euchre to name a few. The Lunch Bunch was another favorite social gathering she looked forward to.
The Collins family will always remember the excellent care and compassion provided by the staff of Park Pointe and Joliet Area Community Hospice.
Funeral services for Mary Pat Collins will be Friday, October 3, 2014, 9:30 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Dr., Morris to St. Mary Catholic Church in Minooka where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Mary Pat Collins Scholarship Fund (to benefit graduating high school seniors) or Joliet Area Community Hospice.
