Obituary of Robert Colombo

Robert A. Colombo Age 72, of Joliet, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center emergency room. Born December 6, 1941 in Joliet to the late Angelo and Cecelia (nee Barney) Colombo, he was a graduate of Sacred Heart Grade School, Joliet Township Central High School, and attended Lewis University. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois and also completed management training at Illinois Benedictine University. Bob was a registered Professional Engineer and retired from Electro-Motive with over 30 years of service as a mechanical engineer and head of the Air Brake Division. He also designed and held a patent for a locomotive air brake system. He was a member of the Air Brake Association, National Rifle Association, Illinois State Rifle Association, Elks Lodge and Church of St. Jude. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening and enjoying his grandchildren. Surviving are his beloved wife of 47 years, Joan A. (nee Muhich) Colombo of Joliet; two daughters, Tina (Brian) Brookman of Wilmington and Lisa Colombo of Joliet; and three grandchildren, Brandon, Stephanie and Emily. Funeral Services for Robert A. Colombo will be Friday, October 3, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to the Church of St. Jude for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Entombment Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
