Age 89. Peacefully Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born April 12, 1925 in Joliet, she was a lifetime resident. Graduate of St. Patrick Grade School and St. Francis Academy. Founding member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church; member of the Paulites, and the Visitation and Aid Society. She enjoyed playing golf and bridge.
Preceded in death by her parents, Charles F. and Agnes (nee Bannon) Murphy; her husband, Martin E. Rowan; and two brothers, John C. Murphy and James (Jean) Murphy.
Survived by four daughters, Susan (William) McCarley of Livona, MI, Jane (Dan) Stukel of Channahon, Noreen Imfeld of Channahon and Nancy Rowan of Asheville, NC; one son, Martin K. (Marsha) Rowan of Algonquin, IL; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary Margaret (John) Murphy of Petersburg, IL.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the staff at The Timbers of Shorewood and Joliet Area Community Hospice for the special attention their mother received while she was in their care.
Funeral Services for Mary E. Rowan will be held Monday, October 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. As it was Lib's request, Cremation Rites will be accorded following her visitation and funeral services. Memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
