Ronald J. Orloff, G.R.I., C.R.B
Age 83, of Joliet, IL, died peacefully, Sunday October 4, 2014. Born October 10, 1930 in Chicago to the late Della (nee Yastrow) and Benjamin Orloff. A U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Korean War, Ron enjoyed a fulfilling career in real estate after serving his country.
Beloved husband of over 61 years to Joyce (nee Schuman) Orloff; loving father of Steven (Candice) Orloff and Leslie (Tom) Ibler; proud and devoted "Poppy" of Lindsay Orloff and Ashley (Ben) Freeman; dear brother-in-law of Marlyn Jesse; and fond uncle of two.
A member of the Joliet Jewish Congregation since 1956, he gave of his time and talent in various capacities including chairman for many years of the Chevra Kadisha committee. Past President of the Board of Directors and longtime supporter of United Cerebral Palsy of Will County and past Vice President and board member of the Will County Sheltered Workshop, now known as Cornerstone Services.
President of Ronald J. Orloff LLC Real Estate Investments and former co-owner of Klafter Agency (as VP in charge of Real Estate); Ron was also a former owner of Century 21 Real Estate Agencies, located in Joliet and Wilmington, IL. He was a licensed Real Estate Agent and member of the MLS. A graduate of the Real Estate Institute (GRI), a designation from the Illinois Association of Real Estate Boards, Springfield, IL. Mr. Orloff was a member of numerous professional organizations in real estate including the National Association of Realtors, Illinois Association of Realtors (former director), Joliet-Will County Board of Realtors (past President), Chairman Professional Standards Committee-Joliet Will County Board of Realtors and Illinois Chapter of Certified Residential Brokers.
In 1977, he was elected Realtor of the year by the Joliet-Will County Board of Realtors, the first Will County Realtor to receive this award in the boards 58 year history. He was also the first realtor on the board to receive the designation Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager from the Realtors National Marketing Institute. Also in 1977 Ron was named a Certified Residential Broker by the National Association of Realtors.
Ron possessed determination and passion in all facets of life. He managed to receive a bachelor degree in business from the College of St. Francis while building his company and raising his family with his beloved wife.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the Joliet Jewish Congregation, 250 N. Midland Avenue, Joliet, with visitation occurring from 10:00 a.m. until services begin at 11:00 a.m with Rabbi Charles Rubovits officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
