Raymond R. Suste
Age 91. Died peacefully with family at his side, Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home after a brief illness. Born in Joliet to the late Mary (nee Knezetich) and George Suste, he was a lifetime resident. A U.S. Army Veteran, Ray, a Staff Sargeant, served in Battalion F with the 3rd Infantry in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII. A member of VFW Cantigny Post #367.
Survived by his children, Paula (James) Paris, Jeri (Denny) Moore, Ray Suste, Jr., Judy (Perry) Olin, Tim (Mary) Suste, Tom Suste and Maribeth Suste-Williams; grandchildren, Andrew (Kim) Flynn, Hayley, Aaron (Christine), Jason, Justin Olin, Nina (Matt) Bartels and Nolan Suste, Brandon (Christina) Suste and Torean Suste; Erica Kenney and Scott Southcomb; great-grandchildren, Daviante, Gianna, Logan and Julian.
Preceded in death by his wife, Ann (nee Macko); parents; siblings, Lucille (late Robert) Nasenbenny, Delores (late Charles) Traven, Lorraine "Lori" (late James) Maccono, John (late Ann), Joseph (late Agnes) Suste; sister-in-law, Delores Suste.
He retired from US Steel after 38 1/2 years of service. Member and past president of the St. Mary Nativity Senior Club, the former Joannites. An avid bowler up to the age of 90+, Ray also loved being in the sun, yardwork, gardening and fishing.
Funeral Services for Raymond R. Suste will be held Friday October 24, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.. Interment St. Mary Nativity Cemetery.
