Obituary of Richard VanMeter

Richard C. VanMeter "Dick" Age 76. At rest Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Joliet, the son of the late Corless and Rose VanMeter, he was a lifelong resident. Retired from the Carpenters Union Local #174 in 1993 following 30 years of service. He was an avid golfer. Survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Rosemary (Luzbetak) VanMeter of Joliet: two children, Rick (Roxane) VanMeter of Channahon and Tammy (Tony) Sullivan of Plainfield; three grandchildren; five stepchildren, Raymond (Cynthia) Kijowski of New Lenox, Linda (Rick) Pasteris of Joliet, Lisa (Ralph) Gallup of Joliet, Laura Matamoros of Joliet and Mark Ketcherside of Joliet; 12 stepchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents; three stepchildren, Walter Kijowski, Michael Ketcherside and Laura Kijowski; step-granddaughter, Jennifer Matamoros; and one brother, Raymond VanMeter. Funeral Services for Dick VanMeter will be held Friday, October 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
