Obituary of Helen Shewmake

Helen L. Shewmake (nee Long) Age 82. At rest Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born in Jemison County, AL, the daughter of the late Ernest and Lillian Long, she was raised and educated in Mazon, IL and resided in Joliet since the early 1950's. A retired physical therapist at Burgess Square Nursing Home in Westmont, IL. Surviving are her five children, Pam Stamps, Allen (Jennifer) Shewmake, Laurence Shewmake, Penny Shewmake, and Diane (Raymond) Sherrod; grandchildren, Joshua, Wayne, Jacob, Jennifer, Danny, Cindy (David), Manny, Emily, John, Raven, Ashley and Raymond, Jr.; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Ginny; sister-in-law, Katherine; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, James E. Shewmake (1996); her parents; one brother, Leon Long; and one sister, Lynda Jenkins. Funeral Services for Helen L. Shewmake will be Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rd., Joliet. Interment will follow at Brookside-Mazon Cemetery in Mazon, IL.
