Obituary of Maxine Hubbs

Maxine Hubbs (nee Ancell) Formerly of Quincy, IL, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, December 23, 2014 in Joliet, IL at the age of 85. Maxine was born and raised in Quincy, IL and attended Quincy schools. A member of the former Grandview Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Former owner and operator of Maxine's Beauty Shop. An avid reader, sewer and bowler, bowling with several teams over the years. Preceded by her loving husband, Robert (2005); parents, Charles and Faye (Stark) Ancell; three sisters, Louise Meyer, Irene Bosse and Jackie Wiewel; and one brother, Robert Ancell. Surviving are her two children, Joyce (Paul) Wagner of Morris, IL and Gary (Karen) Hubbs of Urbana, IL; two grandchildren, Matthew (Dawn) Wagner and Aaron (Kimberly) Wagner; five great-grandchildren, twins, Jordan and Taylor, Reed, Brooke and Paige Wagner; two sisters, June (Loren) Weiwel of Quincy and Janice (late K.O.) Walton of Georgetown, S.C.; one brother, Ronald (Sue) Ancell of Mendon, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A prayer service for Maxine Hubbs will be held Friday, December 26, 2014 5:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris, IL. Private interment in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, IL. Visitation Friday, 3:00 p.m. until time of services. A public memorial service will be held in Quincy, IL at a later date.
