Obituary of Dale Norton

Dale D. Norton Age 69, of Seneca, IL, passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 26, 2014 at his home. He was born June 10, 1945 to the late Edith (nee Patterson) and Collie H. Norton in Alto Pass, IL where he was raised and educated, graduating with the class of 1964 at Alto Pass High School. A U.S. Army Veteran, Dale served in Germany and was honorably discharged in June of 1967. Beloved husband of 45 years to Gail (nee Homerding) of Seneca, IL; loving father of Stacy ( Robert) Powell of Marseilles, IL, Scott Norton of Seneca, Sandy Norton of Seneca and Steve (Andrea) Norton of Marseilles; proud grandfather of Justin (Susan), Alison, Mathew and Adam Powell and Drew Norton; great-grandpa of Kaleb and Trenton; also survived by two sisters, Lois (late Ed) Kolozy and Margaret (late Paul) Ronning; two brothers, Hannibal (Shirley) Norton and Ned Ray (Peg) Norton; two-sisters-in-law, Betty Norton and Stephanie Norton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Edith and Collie; and siblings, Nina (late Virgil) Lyerla, Jake Norton, Norma (late Harold) Crotty, Granvil (late Esther) Norton, William (late Marge) Norton, Georgia (late Orbie) Bevil, Roger Norton and Kenneth Norton. Dale, a retired machinist from Caterpillar Inc. (Joliet Plant) after 31 years of dedicated service, was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed gardening, especially tomatoes of which he was always sharing with neighbors and friends. Member of the NRA and the Machinists Union. Funeral Services for Dale Norton will be held Wednesday December 31, 2014 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home , 1201 W. Rt. 6 at Deerpath Drive in Morris, IL, where visitation will take place from 3:00 p.m. until services begin at 7:00 p.m. Graveside Interment Friday, January 2, 2015 at Alto Pass Cemetery in Alto Pass, IL at 2:30 p.m. Please arrive at the cemetery by 2:00 p.m. to visit with Dale's family.
